We’ve already broken in our new grill very nicely. In fact, we grilled last night and accidentally locked ourselves out of the house with the oven on! Yikes! We were sitting out back listening to music and grilling chicken while the fries were cooking inside. I was keeping an eye on the time to go back in and check on them. When we tried to get back in, it was locked!! I thought we were going to have to get the police to knock our door down, but thankfully we got a hold of our friends with the spare key just in time! It was scary, but Praise the Lord that the pups were outside with us and for the fact that I took my cell phone outside, so we could call someone. Thanking the Lord we made it inside in time before anything started smoking, and our sweet potato fries, though crispy, were still edible despite being in the oven for quite a while. That was our excitement for the week, now onto more important matters, the Turkey Burgers!
I’ve been wanting to make turkey burgers for quite some time now but I’ve always thought of them tasting dry and bland. Well, despite my preconceived idea of turkey burgers, I went in search of a recipe to prove myself wrong. And I completely did!! These burgers changed every perception I’ve had about turkey burgers. I mean the name says it all, they ACTUALLY are delicious!! Very moist and full of flavor and even reminiscent of a beef burger. I am telling the honest truth, I promise!! I even used ground lean turkey breast and they were still moist!! These are a great way to eat a healthier burger and to try something different at the same time.

Makes 4 Burgers
Ingredients:
1 1/4 to 1 1/2 lbs. ground turkey (works with ground turkey breast too)
1/8 cup seasoned panko bread crumbs
1/8 cup finely minced onion
1 egg, lightly beaten
1/8 cup chopped fresh italian flat leaf parsley
1/2 clove garlic
1/2 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. freshly ground black pepper
1 1/2 tbsp. worcestershire sauce
Directions:
In a large bowl, add all ingredients. Using your hands, lightly mix together until ingredients are distributed evenly. Divide meat into four sections for large burgers, or 5-6 for slightly smaller burgers. Roll each section into a ball and pack tightly. Pat down and form into a hamburger patty. Repeat for remaining sections.
Either grill the burgers or cook them on the stovetop over medium low heat. Flip every 2 to 3 minutes until cooked through or until they reach an internal temperature of 180 degrees. (Should take approximately 10 to 15 minutes to cook). Make sure you don’t press down on the burgers with the spatula so the juices don’t run out.
