I’ll be honest, I didn’t have any intention of making this at first. There’s something about adding soda to cake mix that isn’t very appealing to me. Then a friend of mine, Denise, made it and called it a rousing success. Well, then I had to try it! I think you should too. It’s a winner!
Ingredients:
Two 12-oz bags frozen mixed berries
1 box white cake mix
1 can of diet 7-up, Sprite, or Sierra Mist (I didn’t use diet)
Instructions:
1. Place frozen fruit in a 9×13 baking dish. Add dry cake mix over the top.
2. Pour soda slowly over cake mix. DO NOT stir the cake mix and the soda – this will give you a ‘crust’. Stirring the soda and cake mix will give you a cake like topping. It should look like this:

I know, it looks weird. Just trust me.
3. Bake 350 for 45-50 min.
I know it seems strange, but it really is good. It also makes your house smell amazing while it’s baking! I topped mine with a little vanilla ice cream and didn’t have to feel that guilty when I went back for seconds. What do you think? Will you give it a try too?
