About Me ~
I am new to this whole Army Wife thing. My husband just joined back in October and we just recently got to be together again after all of his initial training, where my husband became a Nationally Registered EMT, and is now a medic for the US Army. Zackary and I have known each other since the fifth grade. I hated him, he longed after me (or so he says…haha). When I was a sophomore in high school, I moved about 15 minutes away and started school at a different high school. The following year, I needed a date for prom because I did not want to go alone, so my friend from my old school said she knew someone who would go with me, and “introduced” me to Zackary. I was a little hesitant to even talk to him, based on what I thought he was back in middle school, but I was completely wrong. He is the sweetest most caring man I have ever met in my life, and he still treats me like a princess being married almost 5 years. We NEVER fight, about anything really, and maybe that’s because I pay the bills. With his money that is…haha. We have been trying to have a baby for the last three years and have been unsuccessful. I suffer from PCOS, which is a very difficult disease. We will be meeting with a reproductive specialist in the next month or so, which can hopefully give us a solution to our devastating problem. We are originally from Grove City, OH a little town outside of Columbus and are DIE-HARD Buckeye fans. We just relocated two weeks ago to Fort Riley, Kansas where there is nothing but fields, cows, and lots of Purple! I’m a city girl, but I am starting to enjoy the peace the country brings.
I am currently a College Student with American Public University and have about a year to go to finish my BA in Psychology. I would love to be a school Psychologist and work with children who are dealing with Spectrum based disorders. My youngest brother has Asperger’s Syndrome which is a strain of Autism, and I have seen the struggle he has been through his entire life, and I want to help other children who are dealing with their disorders. Outside of school, I have been involved with Volleyball since I was 5 years old. My parents were coaches when I was little, so I practically grew up in the gym. I played volleyball all throughout high school, lettering Varsity all four years, along with many club experiences as well. I wanted to play in College, but had to give up that dream due to a shoulder injury. I finished high school, and started coaching right away. I love the girls that I coach, and I try to help them in any way possible, with volleyball and in life. I am hoping to find a coaching job here in Kansas sometime soon. The thing I love most to do is sing. My goal is to record a CD. I sing as part of our praise team back home and I love to be lost in a song, just feeling the emotion that the lyrics can bring to a person. Singing frees me from a lot of the stress that my life brings me. I can sing to forget about the bills I have to pay, being away from my family, or the health problems that I face on a regular basis.
How I Became a Part of Operation: Stand By Your Man ~
My husband had just left for Basic Training, and I felt very alone. There was zero verbal communication, only letters, and I felt like it was me against the world. A very close friend of mine and her husband were preparing to leave for Korea, and she said I should check out some of the military support pages on facebook. So I typed military wife and things like that into the search bar and just happened to come across this page. I sat back, and watched the support flow from everyone here, and loved how the admin’s cared so much about each and every person on the page. I had mentioned to my husband in a letter that I think it would be awesome to be a part of a page like this one, so when I saw the contest I hopped on it. I submitted the picture of me, and asked everyone I could think of to vote for me. There was a handful of girls in the contest, but Ashley and I blew everyone else out of the water, so they let us both be admins! I am so thankful for the opportunity that they gave me, as I have great friends in the other admins, and I have developed some lasting friendships with other people as well. I love that we are all caring of each other, hate DRAMA, and just are here to offer helpful advice when we can and support when we cannot offer the advice.
