Name: Kailene (that's kay-lean), my friends call me Kay!
About Me:
I'm close friends with Stephanie and co-page owner & co-creator of OBSYM. Operation: Stand By Your Man is our baby.
The short version is: I was married, at a young age, to a man in the Army. We were married three years but it was not meant to be (that's a quite longer and more extensive story). Although I am no longer categorized as an "Army Wife" I still have compassion and love for those who are in military relationships. My goal is to help as many people as I can with the knowledge that I have.
A little about my personal life - not related to the military. I have just graduated college from The Evergreen State College, with a BA in Psychology. Some recent happy news is that I have been accepted to the Counseling Psychology program of graduate studies at Northwest University in Kirkland, WA. My hope and dream is to become a marriage and couples therapist since it would appear that so many relationships end because neither party was willing to go to counseling or "therapy" to actually put some WORK into the relationship. I see it all too often that a couple will just throw in the towel because that's easier than staying and fighting for the relationship. I chose to become a marriage and couples therapist because a while back, I realized that I was (am) that one "person" that everyone goes to for advice. A good friend of mine had just gone through a rough break up and I was just talking to her and she looked at me and said, "You know, you really should do this for a living. You could really help people." And so my decision was made. I want to help people. I want love to conquer all. And I will do whatever I can in my power to make that happen.
Along with my studies in college, I am a ballet dancer. I'm currently take classes from the most amazing person in the world! Her name is Jehrin and I couldn't have met her at a better time in my life. She opened up my mind to the beauty of ballet. When I dance, all my troubles, worries and stresses just seem to fall away for awhile and there is nothing left but me, my pointe shoes and the music. It is like a drug to me. Its my escape, my utopia in my life - the one place where I have no titles, not obligations, nothing to worry about but myself and I couldn't love it more! Jehrin has also taught me about developmental movement therapy and its importance in this world.
Aside from school and play, I am dating the most wonderful man. His name is Damon. He's ROTC at the University of Washington presently. He and I dated when we were in high school - "way back when" seven years ago. When he heard of my divorce he made an effort to reconnect with me, and what do you know, we ended up deciding that maybe we should try being a couple again... And looking at where its at now, it's probably one of the best decisions I've made in a long time. He makes me so happy and I am optimistic about our future together.
How I Became a Part of Operation: Stand By Your Man:
Well, first of all I have to tell you how I met Stephanie.
My exhusband, Matt, had a buddy in the platoon named Austin. I had heard Austin had a girlfriend that lived in Texas, but had never met her. On Halloween 2011, one of the more umm, vivacious men in the platoon, Bobby, decided to host a Halloween party, everyone was invited. Austin's girlfriend had flown up here from Texas for a visit and was coming to the party. I was excited because I'd never met her and Austin is a nice guy and it'd be great to be friends with another of the guys' girlfriends. Anyway, so we get to the party and Austin introduces me to his girlfriend, Stephanie, who is dressed up as a naughty cop! Lol I didn't have much room to talk, I was a flamenco dancer and my dress was about a 10 inches too short, and I had sheer black tights on with four inch heels... needless to say I looked like a hooker (and my exhusband loved it lol). So Steph and I chit chatted a bit that night and then the next night we went on a double date with Austin and Stephanie and then she went back to Texas. We stayed in contact and talked here and there and then one night Steph came to me and said hey I am starting this page, wanna do it with me and I said yes and we were off! And here we are today! Successful and happy to help all of those who come to us!
